President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power, with the nomination already transmitted to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

The development was disclosed in a State House press release issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Tegbe’s nomination follows the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue gubernatorial ambitions.

A fiscal and economic reform expert from Oyo State, Tegbe brings over three decades of experience across the public and private sectors. He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led initiatives in fiscal policy reform, governance, and institutional transformation.

He currently serves as Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, overseeing development cooperation between Nigeria and China, including engagements aligned with FOCAC objectives.

Tegbe has also been involved in power sector reforms, working with agencies such as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company.

According to the Presidency, his appointment is expected to strengthen ongoing reforms in the power sector, improve grid stability, and attract sustainable investment in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
