Ex-School Mates Arrested for Murdering UTME Candidate in Lagos

Tragedy struck the Ikorodu community in Lagos State as 17-year-old Thompson Adams was killed just moments after completing his UTME exams on April 22, 2026.

What began as a kidnapping investigation led police to the arrest of two of the victim’s former classmates – 23-year-old Elijah Emmanuel and 21-year-old Tony Ekwen Ogenata.

Police Commissioner Fatai Tijani confirmed the arrests on Wednesday, noting that the suspects were tracked down via intelligence reports.

Investigators believe the duo lured Adams to their Ikorodu apartment under false pretenses before taking his life.

“Operatives of the command, acting on credible intelligence On April 27, 2026, at about 20:00 hours, traced and arrested suspected kidnappers at Lucky Fibre, Ikorodu, Lagos.

“The suspects are Elijah Em66655ttmanuel, 23, and Tony Ekwen Ogenata, 21, investigation revealed that they are linked to the kidnapping and gruesome murder of Thompson Adams, aged 17, which occurred on April 22, 2026. They went out together as friends and along the line, they murdered him,” the CP said.

He further revealed that the suspects allegedly stuffed the victim’s body into a bag and dumped it within the community after the killing.

Tijani also disclosed that further interrogation uncovered their involvement in an earlier case involving the abduction and killing of a female victim in November 2025.

According to him, the suspects kidnapped the victim, said to be the girlfriend of one of them and demanded ransom from her family.

“They still went ahead and murdered her on November 30, after her family paid ₦300,000 ransom, but after collecting the money, ” he added.

Tijani confirmed that the suspects will be arraigned in court once the investigation is finalized.

The Command further assured the public that additional findings will be disclosed as the case progresses.
