95

A 35-year-old woman and two 12-year-old boys have been detained in Ogun State following the brutal killing of 38-year-old Stanley Okirie.
Maureen Okirie allegedly used a pestle to kill her husband and enlisted the help of his two teenage cousins to bury his remains in secret.
The suspects were caught in the act on Thursday morning by Ajuwon Division detectives.
Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that an anonymous tip led officers to the scene, where they discovered one suspect attempting to hide a blood-drenched corpse in a shallow grave in a statement given to Persecondnews.
According to him, preliminary examination of the body revealed a severe injury to the man’s head.
Further investigation indicates that the victim was allegedly attacked with a wooden pestle, while the other suspects, who are relatives of the deceased, conspired in the commission of the crime and the attempted cover-up, he said.
The weapon utilized in the assault has been recovered as an exhibit.
The deceased has been deposited at Life Channel Mortuary, Olambe, for post-mortem examination.
The suspects are currently being processed for transfer to the State CID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for formal prosecution.
Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni has formally condemned the incident, labeling it a grave violation of human dignity.
The Commissioner underscored that the Command remains committed to prosecuting violent crimes and will show no leniency toward individuals attempting to circumvent the law through the concealment of corpses.
