“I Asked If My Touch Would Cause Problems”: Uzor Speaks on On-Screen Role with BamBam

Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has addressed rumours suggesting that he was romantically involved with actress and reality TV star Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, following intense online speculation about their roles in a recent movie.

The actor, speaking during an interview with BBC’s Igbo service, explained that he took deliberate steps to ensure professionalism and respect while working with Bambam, especially because she is married.

According to Arukwe, the project marked the first time he had ever met Bambam in person, contrary to claims circulating online that suggested they had known each other for a long time or were romantically involved.

He revealed that before performing any intimate scenes required for the film, he openly asked the actress if there were boundaries he should observe out of respect for her marriage.

“Before I touched her, I asked her if there was any way I could touch her that her husband wouldn’t like or that might cause problems at home,” Arukwe said.

Arukwe explained that his intention was to ensure that nothing done in the course of filming would create tension in Bambam’s home or be interpreted wrongly by her family.

Despite his careful approach, the actor said the film’s release triggered widespread speculation online, with some social media users claiming that both actors were secretly dating and had been intimate off-screen.

“That movie was the first time I had ever met her. But people started saying we slept together and were dating, which was completely false,” he said while reacting to the rumours.

He maintained that their interaction was strictly professional and limited to their roles in the production, noting that such speculation often follows actors who portray convincing romantic chemistry on screen.

The controversy, he noted, gained even more attention because Bambam is married, but Arukwe insisted there was never anything beyond the script between them and expressed hope that the clarification would put the rumours to rest.
