A significant political shift has swept through the National Assembly as four members of the House of Representatives defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Leading the exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are three Gombe State lawmakers: Inuwa Garuba (Yamaltu/Deba), Abdullahi El-Rasheed (Dakku/Nafada), and Mohammed Audu (Karim Lamido/Lau/Ardo-Kola).
They are joined by Obika Chinedu, the Federal Capital Territory representative for Abuja Municipal/Bwari, who made the switch from the Labour Party (LP).

In a separate development, Adewale Adebayo, representing the Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu federal constituency in Osun State, has completed his formal switch from the PDP to the Accord Party.

House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the defections by reading out the official notices during Wednesday’s plenary sitting.

Citing unresolved internal wrangling in their previous platforms, the defecting lawmakers explained that the decision was driven by the need for a more stable political environment.

Internal turmoil has fractured the PDP into two warring camps.

The first, steered by Kabiru Turaki, counts Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed as its primary pillars.

The opposing faction, headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed, remains firmly aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, further deepening the party’s ideological divide.
