Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has distanced itself from a wave of social media scams targeting its brand and leadership.

The company warned that fraudsters are currently using the names of Aliko Dangote and his family to promote fake charities and investment “deals” across platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram.

DIL emphasized that it does not conduct official business or recruitment through social media messaging.

It urged the public to remain vigilant and ignore any solicitations for money or sensitive information claiming to originate from the Dangote Group or its executives.

“For the avoidance of doubt,” the statement read, “neither Dangote Industries Limited nor its Group President, Aliko Dangote, nor any executive including the Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations (Oil & Gas), or members of the Dangote family — Fatima Aliko Dangote, Mariya Aliko Dangote and Halima Aliko Dangote — solicit funds, investments, contracts, or personal information from individuals via social media.”

The company further clarified that its executives do not operate Facebook or TikTok accounts and do not initiate direct contact with private individuals online for financial transactions, business opportunities or personal requests.

“Under no circumstances do the company’s executives initiate direct contact with private individuals through social media channels for financial transactions, business opportunities, or personal requests,” it added.

Dangote Industries advised members of the public to disregard unsolicited messages, calls or accounts claiming affiliation with the company or its leadership.

“All official communications from the company are disseminated strictly through verified corporate channels and recognized media platforms,” the statement said.
