Breaking: Egbetokun resigns, AIG Tunji Disu Appointed as New IGP

An acting Inspector-General of Police, has been appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He is Assistant Inspector General Tunji Disu, replacing Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, who resigned on Tuesday.

A presidency source in a text to Persecondnews confirmed that he resigned.

Responding to Persecondnews enquires, the senior official wrote: “He resigned.”

According to the source, the appointment has received multiple confirmations, signalling an immediate leadership change at the top of the Nigeria Police Force.

Further details surrounding the transition —including the effective date and official handover arrangements — are yet to be disclosed.

The leadership reshuffle comes as Nigeria continues to prioritise security sector coordination and institutional reforms.
