EFCC Seizes ₦17.2m, Arrests 20 in FCT Vote-Buying Crackdown

At least, 20 suspects are in custody following an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission crackdown on electoral fraud during Saturday’s FCT council polls. 

According to a statement by the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the arrests spanned multiple locations and targeted individuals involved in vote trading and interfering with official proceedings. 

The anti-graft agency also reportedly intercepted ₦17.2 million intended for electoral bribery.

One of the suspects was caught with ₦13.5 million inside a car parked near a polling unit in Kwali council area.

Oyewale said two suspects were arrested in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and four in Kwali.

He added that the suspects will be taken to court after investigations are completed.
