Nollywood actor Nosa Rex has joined the growing conversation around actors and filmmakers dancing on social media to promote their films, urging industry veterans to embrace evolving promotional trends rather than push back against them.
Rex explained that his online dancing serves as a gateway to audience attention.
By leading with entertainment, he ensures his followers stay engaged long enough for him to successfully market his latest film.
“You don’t dance to sell your film. You dance to engage people, entertain them, and then they help you share the message,” the actor said.
He noted that the traditional method of simply announcing a film’s release is no longer effective, stressing that today’s audiences respond more to interactive and entertaining content than static publicity.
Rex warned that Nollywood “OGs” who resist adapting to these changes risk being left behind, pointing out that the industry is evolving rapidly and newer creators are already setting the pace for modern film promotion.
To underline his point, he cited actress Toyin Abraham as an example, noting that her openness to social media trends, including dancing, has aligned with her consistent box-office success.
He advised filmmakers with upcoming cinema releases to remain flexible in their promotional strategies, adding that adapting to change is no longer optional in today’s Nollywood landscape.
