American legendary gospel singer and writer, Ron Kenoly, has exited the world.
Aged 81, Kenoly’s death has been confirmed by several artistes via their social media pages.
Top Nigerian minister, Nathaniel Bassey, wrote on Instagram: “Dr Ron Kenoly crosses to yonder side.
“Thank you for inspiring generations of psalmists like me.
“I grew up on these songs. And today, others are growing up on ours.
“Thank you sir.”
Meanwhile, the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned gospel musician and worship leader, Ron Kenoly.
In an emotional tribute, Bishop Oke hailed the late singer as a “true worshipper,” noting that his entire life and calling were poured out in honour of God.
“Farewell to a true worshipper, Ron Kenoly,” the PFN leader wrote. “A man of humility, a vessel of grace, and a true worshipper who gave his life to the glory of God.”
Kenoly’s music career spanned nearly six decades, with his breakthrough coming in 1992 with the release of “Lift Him Up,” which became the fastest-selling worship album of its time.
Kenoly earned a Dove Award for Praise and Worship Album of the Year in 1997 for “Welcome Home” and was nominated multiple times.
Persecondnews reports that he released over 20 albums, including “God Is Able,” “Sing Out with One Voice,”, “Welcome Home”, “Majesty”,- “Righteousness, Peace & Joy” and “Anointing”.
His music and ministry reached churches across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas, shaping modern congregational worship.
Kenoly mentored generations of worship leaders and helped redefine live praise concerts.
Kenoly’s legacy extends beyond his music, as he emphasized the importance of worship leaders being spiritual guides rather than entertainers.
He served as the Ambassador of Music at Jubilee Christian Center in San Jose, California, and later relocated to Central Florida, where he continued to travel, teach, and record.
