Portugal and Nigeria are set to clash in a highly anticipated friendly match on June 6, with Lisbon expected to host the encounter.

The proposed fixture is part of Portugal’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while Nigeria looks to gain valuable exposure against elite European opposition.

The Super Eagles’ impressive performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has made them an attractive opponent for World Cup-bound nations.

Under Eric Chelle’s guidance, Nigeria has shown strong tactical discipline and attacking quality, making them a valuable test for Portugal.

According to an inside source from the NFF on Saturday, “both football authorities in both countries have reached an agreement in principle, with final details of the encounter to be concluded in the coming weeks”.

Persecondnews reports that the last meeting between the two teams saw Portugal win 4-0, with Bruno Fernandes scoring twice.

This upcoming match promises to be a significant step in both teams’ preparations, with fans eagerly anticipating another chapter in the Portugal-Nigeria football rivalry.

The friendly will also serve as Nigeria’s preparation for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

With talks progressing positively, fans could witness a thrilling clash between Victor Osimhen and Cristiano Ronaldo.
