Custody battle: My focus is on my children’s well-being, Harrysong tells ex-wife

Nigerian singer, Harrysong, has finally responded to allegations made by his ex-wife, Alexer Peres, amid the ongoing custody situation involving their two young children.

The singer’s reaction followed an emotional video shared by Alexer, in which she announced her decision to temporarily give up custody of the children, aged four and three.

Describing the move as the hardest decision of her life, she cited years of emotional strain since her separation from the musician.

In the video, Alexer accused Harrysong of constant harassment and interference, claiming he often showed up at her residence unannounced.

She also raised concerns about the children’s living arrangements, alleging that they were mostly in the care of domestic staff and that their father was rarely present.

Responding via his Instagram Story, Harrysong struck a measured tone, saying his silence had been deliberate and guided by a desire to protect both the mother of his children and the children themselves.

According to him, public statements made in anger can leave lasting damage.

The singer admitted that he had previously made the mistake of reacting emotionally to sensitive issues online and had “learnt the hard way,” adding that he now understands that what is said on social media can live forever.

Harrysong firmly denied claims that he ever restricted Alexer’s access to their children.

He clarified that the children being in his custody was a decision taken for reasons he believes should not be discussed publicly, especially given the long-term impact such disclosures could have on them.

Describing himself as an involved parent, the singer said he has remained an active and present father, stressing that he continued to provide for the children even during periods when they were primarily in their mother’s care.

He also expressed concern over what he described as a damaging narrative forming online, noting that it not only hurts him personally but also threatens the public image and career that ultimately supports the children’s welfare.

Harrysong questioned whether the public back-and-forth was worth the potential harm it could cause in the future, particularly when the children are old enough to encounter the conversations themselves.

Reiterating his stance, the singer made it clear that he would not engage in public exchanges or social media battles over the issue, choosing restraint over reaction.

“My focus remains their well-being,” he stated, underlining that his priority is ensuring the children are protected from unnecessary public scrutiny and emotional fallout.
