In a major counter-terrorism success, the Nigerian Air Force eliminated over 40 insurgents in Borno State last week.

The targeted air interdictions, conducted in the Azir and Musarram areas on January 15–16, were designed to dismantle terrorist cells planning imminent attacks.

Working in collaboration with ground troops under Operation HADIN KAI, the NAF utilized actionable intelligence to secure the region.

NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame reported that the operations have “significantly degraded” the enemy’s presence, with local sources confirming that stability is returning to the area.

On January 15, NAF air assets carried out a successful air interdiction at Musarram, targeting terrorists assembling on canoes to launch attacks along the Baga and Fish Dam axis.

“On arrival, the aircraft sighted about 10 canoes and over 40 suspected terrorists, who were engaged in multiple passes, throwing them into disarray,” Ejodame said.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to providing timely and decisive air support to ground forces.

“These operations demonstrate the effectiveness of intelligence-led air power and close air–ground coordination in denying terrorists freedom of action,” Aneke said.

He also assured Nigerians of sustained pressure on terrorist elements.
