Following months of intense speculation and political maneuvering, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The move, which was confirmed on Friday, December 2, by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, is expected to fundamentally reshape the state’s political landscape.
While Yilwatda hailed the defection as a significant boost to the party’s influence, the specific motivations and circumstances behind the Governor’s decision remain undisclosed.
“On behalf of the National Working Committee and the entire family of the All Progressives Congress, I warmly welcome His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, into our great party, the APC.
“Your decision to join the progressive family is a bold and patriotic step, driven by a higher calling to serve the people of Plateau State and Nigeria.
“Today’s registration is a statement of hope and a commitment to a shared vision of inclusive development, peace, and prosperity for Plateau State.
“We receive you with open arms and a deep sense of partnership, and I assure you of our collective resolve to work closely with you, hand in hand to advance the interests of Plateau State, strengthen our party, and deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to our people,” Yilwatda said.
Persecondnews had reported that Mutfwang had announced his resignation from the party amid rumoured plans to join the ruling APC.
