Chelsea and Head Coach Maresca Part Ways After 18-month Tenure

Chelsea Football Club has announced the departure of head coach Enzo Maresca, less than two years after he took charge.

The decision was made in the best interest of the team, as the season enters a critical phase.

“Chelsea Football Club and Head Coach Enzo Maresca have parted company,” the club said in a statement on Thursday.

“During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club.”

Maresca’s departure comes after a poor run of form, with Chelsea winning just one of their last seven Premier League games.

The club currently sits fifth in the Premier League table, and his exit is seen as an attempt to turn the season around.

“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the Club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track,” the statement said.

Liam Rosenior, currently in charge of French side Strasbourg, is emerging as a top contender to replace Maresca, with reports suggesting Chelsea has already contacted him.
