The Black Stars of Ghana have been handed a challenging group in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, facing off against European powerhouses England, Croatia, and Panama.
The draw, held at the Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C., pits Ghana against some of the toughest competition in the tournament.
Ghana’s group, dubbed Group L, promises to be one of the most competitive in the tournament, with England and Croatia having reached the quarter-finals of the previous World Cup in Qatar.
Croatia, in particular, has a rich history in the World Cup, having finished third in the tournament and runners-up in 2018.
The 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada, with the tournament taking place from June 11 to July 19.
The competition will feature 48 teams, making it the largest World Cup in history.
Other notable matchups include Morocco facing Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti in Group C, while Senegal takes on France for the first time since their famous clash in the opening game of the 2002 World Cup.
The tournament kicks off with South Africa facing Mexico, one of the co-hosts, in a re-enactment of the 2010 World Cup opener.
