Just In: PDP Crisis: Police Take Control of National Secretariat in Abuja

955

Amid heightened internal tensions, the Nigeria Police on Wednesday, November 19, sealed off the National Secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The action is directly linked to a significant physical altercation that erupted on Tuesday, November 18, involving two competing party factions.

Persecondnews had reported that pandemonium broke out at the facility when the faction led by the new National Chairman Saminu Turaki engaged in a clash with members aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his Bauchi counterpart, Bala Mohammed, were teargassed during the confrontation while trying to gain access to the secretariat.
