The faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called an emergency meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) for Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.
The notice, issued by factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu on Monday, emphasized the importance of attendance, stating, “Attendance is very important as crucial matters will be discussed and addressed”.
The BoT meeting is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., followed by the NEC meeting at 2:00 p.m.
This development comes after the PDP’s 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, where Wike, Anyanwu, and several other high-profile members were expelled for alleged anti-party activities.
The expulsion motion was moved by former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Bode George, and seconded by Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Samaila Buga.
Governor Bala Mohammed, who chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, had put the motion to a voice vote, which was overwhelmingly endorsed by delegates, signaling the party’s resolve to address internal dissent.
Lere Olayinka, Wike’s media aide, had earlier dismissed the convention’s decisions, stating that those present were trying to “start dirty December in November.”
The emergency meeting is expected to address the party’s internal crisis, with the Wike-backed faction likely to challenge their expulsion.
This marks the 103rd emergency NEC meeting in the PDP’s history, highlighting the party’s ongoing leadership struggles.
