The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially confirmed Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and Mr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim as the re-elected Governor and Deputy Governor of Anambra State, respectively.

The certificates of return were presented to them by Mr. Kenneth Ikeagu, supervising INEC National Commissioner in charge of the Anambra State election, on Tuesday in Akwa.

“We are here to present the certificates of return to the Governor and Deputy Governor of Anambra State, following their successful outing during the state governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025,” Ikeagu said.

He cited Section 72(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, which mandates INEC to issue certificates of return within 14 days to duly elected candidates.

Persecondnews had reported that Soludo, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, polled 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 99,445 votes.

Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes. Soludo won in all 21 local government areas, with a total of 2,788,864 registered voters and 598,229 accredited voters.

The election saw 16 candidates from 16 parties participate, with a total of 595,298 votes cast and 11,244 rejected.
