Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen has been shortlisted for the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Wednesday.
Osimhen, who lifted the prize in 2023, earned his place among ten nominees after a standout campaign with Galatasaray—26 league goals, a Turkish Super Lig title, and a permanent €75 million move from Napoli.
The ten‑man shortlist also features Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, PSG’s Achraf Hakimi, Paris Saint‑Germain’s Oussama Lamlioui, Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy, Pyramids’ Fiston Mayele, Napoli’s Frank Anguissa, Los Angeles FC’s Denis Bouanga, Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye and Tottenham’s Pape Matar Sarr.
In the Goalkeeper of the Year category, Nigerian shot‑stopper Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United) has been nominated alongside Morocco’s Yassine Bounou, South Africa’s Ronwen Williams and Cameroon’s André Onana.
Young talent Daniel Bameyi, captain of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, is among the contenders for the Men’s Young Player of the Year, while the Super Falcons duo Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo were also shortlisted for the Women’s Player of the Year earlier this week.
