Kano Pillars Football Club’s General Manager, Ahmed Musa, has issued a public apology for the fan violence that erupted during their match against Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident occurred after a late 94th-minute equalizer by Shooting Stars, prompting fans to invade the pitch and assault match officials and players .

“What transpired against Shooting Stars is heartbreaking, shameful, and completely unacceptable. It does not represent the true values, identity, or the proud history of Kano Pillars,” Musa said in a post on X handle, expressing his disappointment and regret over the incident.

He noted that the club values community, passion, and respect, and that violence and indiscipline will not be tolerated.

Musa assured that the club will work closely with the relevant authorities to identify those responsible for the incident and ensure they face the consequences. “We understand that apologies alone are not enough. Words must be followed by action,” he said, promising to take steps to prevent such incidents in the future.

The General Manager appealed to the club’s loyal fans to show their support through respect, passion, and discipline, rather than violence.

“Our love for this club can be powerful without being destructive,” he said, emphasizing the need for a turning point in the club’s behaviour.

Musa offered an unreserved apology to Shooting Stars, match officials, the Nigeria Professional Football League, and football fans across Nigeria and beyond.

“We are sorry. I am sorry,” he said, acknowledging the club’s responsibility and commitment to restoring trust and respect in the sport.
