The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the arrest of 12 members of a notorious armed robbery gang allegedly responsible for the brutal murder of two victims – Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a staff member of Arise News, and Barnabas Danlami, a security guard.

Arise News first broke the news during its programme, ‘The Morning Show,’ broadcast from Abuja on Thursday, October 9.

The channel stated that the arrests were the result of a coordinated, intelligence-led operation by the Command, which targeted suspects believed to be behind a series of violent robberies in the area.

It also said the Command assured residents of its commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and maintaining security across the FCT, while investigations into the incident continue.

As at the time of filing this report, the FCT Police Command has yet to release an official statement.

Persecondnews reported that Maduagwu, fondly called Sommie, lost her life on Monday, September 29, after jumping from the balcony of her residence in Katampe, in the FCT, while attempting to escape suspected armed robbers.
