Chelsea secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Premier League, thanks to a dramatic stoppage-time winner from 18-year-old sensation Willian Estevao.
Estevao’s goal was his second of the season, and it marked the third consecutive defeat for the reigning champions.
Estevao made history with his stoppage-time goal, becoming the youngest Brazilian to score a winning goal in the Premier League at just 18 years and 163 days old.
The teenager linked up with Chelsea in the summer after joining from Palmeiras a year ago and has been making waves in the Blues’ squad.
His winner came after Marc Cucurella’s cross was expertly converted in the sixth minute of added time by the Brazilian.
The match saw Moises Caicedo score a stunning long-range goal for Chelsea, giving his side the lead in the 14th minute.
Caicedo, who joined Chelsea from Brighton in the summer of 2023 for a reported £115 million, showcased his skill and power with a shot into Giorgi Mamardashvili’s top left corner.
The debutant goalkeeper had no chance of stopping the ball.
The win marked a third consecutive defeat for Liverpool, with the Reds losing their last two Premier League games in stoppage time.
Despite a strong performance and a goal from Cody Gakpo in the 63rd minute, Liverpool couldn’t hold on for a draw.
Arne Slot’s side had been on a five-match winning streak before the losses, and the stoppage-time defeats will be a concern for the champions.
The match saw tactical surprises from both teams, with Enzo Maresca starting Malo Gusto in central midfield and Reece James at right-back for Chelsea.
Liverpool’s Slot brought on Florian Wirtz at halftime, and the German playmaker almost provided the winning goal with a beautiful pass to Salah.
The Egyptian’s shot, however, went wide.
