In commemoration of Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary, the Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, as public holiday.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary in the ministry, announced the holiday, congratulating Nigerians on this “historic milestone.”

He noted the importance of upholding patriotism, unity, and resilience, which have been crucial to the nation’s survival since 1960.

The Minister urged citizens to keep faith in President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, focused on national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity.

“With collective effort, Nigeria would continue to advance in peace, progress, and development,” he said, expressing optimism about the country’s future.

The minister wished citizens a happy and memorable Independence Day celebration.
