2026 W’Cup Qualifier: Host South Africa Allegedly Delays Super Eagles’ Landing Permit

2.4k

Tensions are rising ahead of the critical World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and South Africa scheduled for Tuesday in South Africa.

Allegations have surfaced that South African aviation authorities are purposefully holding up a landing permit for the Super Eagles.

According to a reliable source at the Nigerian Football Federation, who spoke to Persecondnews on Saturday night, “We are supposed to travel to South Africa tomorrow morning, but as of now, we are still struggling to get a landing permit from the South African authorities.”

The Nigerian team is set to fly to Bloemfontein on Sunday morning for the high-stakes match scheduled for Tuesday.

Some soccer buffs believe this may be a psychological tactic to gain an advantage over the visiting team.

The Super Eagles will need to put up a spirited performance against the Bafana Bafana to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive.

With South Africa topping Group C with 16 points and Nigeria trailing in third place with 10 points from seven matches, the stakes are high.

Benin Republic sits second with 11 points, making every match a do-or-die affair.
