Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has penned a heartfelt message to Genk fans ahead of his expected departure to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old has been linked to several top clubs, but it appears that Wolves are closing in on a deal worth around €25 million, including bonuses.
Arokodare expressed his gratitude to the Genk community via a post on his official X handle on Monday saying, “After two years with this club and amazing fans, it’s time for me to take the next step in my career.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank every single teammate, coach and supporter who has been with me on this journey and helped me while I’ve been here.”
He added, “The city of Genk has been nothing but good to me and it will always be a place that I’ll treasure for the special times I’ve had with you all.”
Arokodare’s impressive performances last season, including finishing as the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League with 21 goals, have made him a highly sought-after player.
His move to Wolves, who are currently struggling at the bottom of the Premier League table, will be an interesting challenge for the striker.
Despite the team’s recent setbacks, Arokodare’s talent and goal-scoring ability could be just what Wolves need to turn their season around.
Wolves suffered a 2-3 defeat at home against Everton on Saturday, August 30, extending their losing streak to three consecutive Premier League games.
Manager Vítor Pereira acknowledged the need for improvement, highlighting defensive errors as a major concern.
With Arokodare potentially joining the team, Wolves fans will be hoping that the Nigerian striker can make an instant impact and help the team climb up the table.
As Arokodare prepares to leave Genk, he reflected on his time at the club, saying, “I leave proud to have played for this badge and wish the club nothing but success in the future. Thank you for every moment in blue.”
The striker’s departure will be felt by the Genk fans, but his impressive performances will be remembered for a long time.
