Nigerians in South Africa under the aegis of the Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA) are mobilizing support for the Super Eagles as they prepare to face Bafana Bafana in a crucial FIFA World Cup qualifying match on September 9, 2025, at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
NUSA President Smart Nwobi and the National Publicity Secretary, Akindele Olunloyo, announced on Sunday that the union’s leadership will visit Bloemfontein to rally support for the Super Eagles ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Bafana Bafana.
“This game is important for our country, and we want Nigerians to come out en masse to support the Super Eagles.
“NUSA’s national leadership will work closely with the Bloemfontein chapter to engage Nigerians living in the city at least a week before the match,” Nwobi said in a statement emailed to Persecondnews.
Nwobi also urged Nigerians to be law-abiding before and after the game, stressing the importance of maintaining discipline at all times in South Africa.
“It is important that we maintain discipline at all times in any part of South Africa,” he said.
The NUSA president said the Super Eagles can count on the unwavering support of Nigerians across South Africa.
He recalled the strong turnout of Nigerian supporters earlier this year when the country’s U-17 women’s national team faced South Africa in March, a match in which the young Flamingoes emerged victorious.
“The Super Eagles can count on our support,” Nwobi said, emphasizing NUSA’s commitment to rallying behind the national team.
Akindele Olunloyo, NUSA’s National Publicity Secretary, added that the union was committed to ensuring that Nigerians support the team in a peaceful and orderly manner.
