The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has directed Kano Pillars, Barau FC, and Abia Warriors to upgrade facilities at their home grounds.

The directive follows a review of the stadiums’ infrastructure, which revealed that they fall short of the league’s club licensing standards.

The Sani Abacha Stadium, home to Kano Pillars and Barau FC, requires significant upgrades to meet NPFL standards.

The pitch, dressing room facilities, technical benches, and floodlights do not meet the infrastructure criteria for club licensing.

Both clubs have been instructed to carry out these upgrades without delay to avoid any disruptions to their home games.

According to the NPFL in a statement on Tuesday “Abia Warriors’ home ground, Umuahia Township Stadium, has been deemed unfit due to poor maintenance.

The pitch falls short of acceptable television standards, and the club has been directed to improve the playing surface, install standard floodlights, and upgrade the dressing rooms.”

With matchday two games set to be played this weekend, the NPFL expects these clubs to take immediate action to address the identified issues.

The league’s directive emphasizes the importance of maintaining high standards in stadium infrastructure to ensure a smooth and successful season.
