Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has made history by winning an unprecedented fifth consecutive AfroBasket title.

The team defeated Mali 78-64 in the final on Sunday, showcasing their dominance and grit in the tournament.

Persecondnews reports that the victory marks Nigeria’s seventh AfroBasket title overall and extends their unbeaten streak to 29 matches since 2015.

The final match was a closely contested one, with both teams giving their all.

At halftime, the score was tied at 41-41, setting the stage for an intense second half.

Nigeria pulled away in the fourth quarter, with Amy Okonkwo leading the charge.

She finished with a game-high 17 points and was instrumental in Nigeria’s victory.

Nigeria’s dominance in the tournament was evident in their stats, averaging 77.5 points per game, the highest in the tournament, and had a better shooting percentage from the field and beyond the arc.

Mali, however, led in rebounds (48.5 per game) and assists (22 per game), making them a formidable opponent.

Persecondnews also reports that Rena Wakama became the first woman to win two consecutive AfroBasket titles, cementing her legacy as a top coach in African women’s basketball.

Under her leadership, D’Tigress has become a force to be reckoned with, and their fifth consecutive title is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
