The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) says it is committed to fostering gender mainstreaming and talent cooperation within the maritime industry.

According to a post on NPA’s official X handle today, Thursday, July 24, 2025, Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, emphasized this commitment during a meeting with the Network for Professional Women in Maritime & Port Sectors of West & Central Africa (NPWMP-WCA).

Dantsoho highlighted that “talent cooperation and collaboration across locations and gender are essential to achieving the objectives of ports in West and Central Africa.”

“Talent cooperation and collaboration across location and gender is germane to actualizing the overarching objectives of the Ports of West & Central Africa to deepen their competitiveness,” he said.

The NPA MD’s stance is in line with his priorities as President of the Port Management Association of West & Central Africa (PMAWCA)

Dantsoho assured the women professionals of the NPA’s unwavering support to help them reach their full potential.

“I therefore want to assure the women that make up this professional team of our unwavering support to reach the fullness of its potential,” he added.

This commitment is expected to empower women in the maritime sector and promote a more inclusive and diverse work environment.

Persecondnews reports that the NPWMP-WCA delegation, which recently concluded a meeting in Guinea Bissau, was received by Dantsoho as part of efforts to foster regional cooperation and development.
