President Bola Tinubu has announced a series of appointments, including Mr. Muhammad Babangida, son of former Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, as the new Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).
The appointment was announced on Friday in a statement by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to Onanuga, Babangida’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master’s degree in public relations and business communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland.
He also attended Harvard Business School’s executive program on corporate governance in 2002.
The president also appointed several other individuals to key positions. Lydia Kalat Musa from Kaduna State has been appointed chairman of the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA). Jamilu Wada Aliyu from Kano State will serve as chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC).
Additionally, Yahuza Ado Inuwa from Kano State has been appointed chairman of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON).
Sanusi Musa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Kano State, will chair the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR). Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu from Sokoto State has been appointed director-general of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA).
Other appointees include Sanusi Garba Rikiji as director-general of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN), Tomi Somefun as managing director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), and Abdulmumini Aminu-Zaria as executive director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC).
