NOC Invites Nigerians to Olympic Marathon Walk July 12

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) President, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, has extended an invitation to Nigerians to participate in the Olympic Walk of the annual Nigeria Engineering Games.

The event, scheduled for July 12, 2025, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, promises to be an exciting experience for participants of all ages.

According to Gumel, the Olympic Walk aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage people to keep fit.

“I would like to see not less than 250 people at this year’s event,” he said.

“I expect people of all ages to come, have fun, and use the walk to keep fit.”

The event will also feature the Chairman and Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko and Bukola Olapade, who will join Gumel in leading the walk.

Persecondnews reports that this walk is set to kick off at 8 am from the Nigerian Society of Engineers headquarters, located at Off Labour House Road/National Mosque Road CBD, Abuja.

Gumel, a past president of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, urged participants to gather at the venue on time to ensure a smooth flag-off.

The Olympic Walk promises to be a fun-filled event that will bring together people from all walks of life.

With the NOC President’s enthusiasm and commitment to promoting sports development in Nigeria, participants can expect an exciting experience.

Gumel said: “I am happy that for the first time, the Chairman and the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC) will join me in leading the walk.”
