The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has relocated its Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting scheduled for Monday, June 30 following the sealing off of its national secretariat in Abuja by security operatives.

It said party leaders were prevented from gaining access to the building.

Consequently, the party issued a special announcement confirming the relocation of its BoT meeting to YarAdua Centre in the Central Business District, Abuja.

The statement, released by party management, posted on its official Facebook account is titled, “Special Announcement! Change of Venue for the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Meeting.

Persecondnews reports that the post was made at noon, hours after the meeting scheduled for the Wadata Plaza.

It stated: “The meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT)of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), earlier scheduled to hold by 10 am at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja has been moved to Yar’Adua Centre, Central Business District, Abuja.

“All BOT members are by this notice advised to proceed to the new venue.”

BoT members, some of whom were reportedly already en route to the original venue, are now being advised to reroute immediately.

Persecondnews reports that the sudden change of venue follows dramatic scenes at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja earlier today, where security operatives allegedly sealed off the premises and prevented party leaders from entering.

Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command has denied sealing off the party’s secretariat, stating that officers were deployed to the venue purely to “maintain law and order and ensure public safety,” in line with their constitutional duties.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement given to Persecondnews on Monday, said the information is false, misleading and does not reflect the true situation on the ground.

Adeh urged media outlets to verify information through the office of the command’s police public relations officer before dissemination.
