Gateway Games Day 3: Bayelsa Leads Pack with 6 Gold Medals

As the 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, heats up, Bayelsa State has emerged as the frontrunner on the medals table after Day 3, boasting an impressive 6 gold medals.

The Bayelsa contingent’s strong performance includes 6 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze.

They are closely trailed by Oyo State, which holds a total of 6 medals: 4 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze.

Lagos State currently sits in third place with 3 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals, while Cross River State is in fourth with 3 gold medals.

Persecondnews correspondent covering the games, reports that Rivers State completes the top five with 2 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal while the Invited Junior Athletes (IJA) are impressively in sixth position with 2 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal.

Defending champions Delta State, who were expected to dominate the competition, are currently in seventh position with just 1 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal.

A total of 71 medals have been won so far, consisting of 23 Gold, 23 Silver, and 25 Bronze medals.
