Atiku’s VP Candidate, Okowa, Endorses Tinubu’s Potential Re-Election Bid for 2027

"For the stability of this nation, I also do believe that, yes, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was elected president in 2023, and for the stability of Nigeria, it is best for us to have him complete his eight-year tenure"

The 2023 Vice Presidential candidate to PDP’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and ex-Delta Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s potential re-election bid, canvassing his completion of an eight-year tenure for Nigeria’s stability.

Okowa made this call while speaking on Arise TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ monitored by Persecondnews on Tuesday in Abuja.

He noted the importance of stability and continuity in governance, saying”For the stability of this nation, I also do believe that, yes, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was elected president in 2023, and for the stability of Nigeria, it is best for us to have him complete his eight-year tenure.”

He suggested that after Tinubu’s tenure, the presidency can go back to the North.

Okowa’s call for Tinubu’s re-election comes after he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, State Executive Council, and entire PDP structure.

He explained that the decision to join the APC was to connect Delta State to the seat of power in Abuja, citing the need to “tap into the goodwill and resources available at the federal level.”

The ex-governor noted that being in opposition does not bring benefits to the people of Delta State, emphasizing the importance of being part of the ruling party.

“There is a need for us to connect to Abuja, that goodwill that is in Abuja, that resource that’s in Abuja of which Delta State is a large contributor, there was a need to connect to it,” he said.

Okowa’s endorsement of Tinubu’s potential re-election bid highlights his commitment to stability and continuity in governance.

Persecondnews recalls that Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rally behind Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027 for the continuation of his reform agenda.

During an appearance on Politics Today aired by Channels Television on Monday, Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, cautioned that a shift in leadership could derail the economic restructuring currently underway, describing such a scenario as potentially “tragic”.

“The most profound thing I will say here today is that every single APC member in this country today should be concentrating on the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, irrespective of whether it affects your personal interest or not,” he stated.

“It will be tragic for any government to come in 2027 and stop these reforms. This is what has happened in the past where you have all kinds of inchoate policies being implemented.”
