In a resounding testament to his exceptional communication skills and dedication to corporate image-building, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has been crowned the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Spokesperson of the Year 2025 in Abuja.

This prestigious award comes as a fitting recognition of Soneye’s outstanding contributions to the field of public relations, showcasing his prowess and potential in shaping public opinion and navigating complex communication challenges.

Persecondnews reports that Soneye’s navigation of his path to this achievement is a story of passion, hard work, and unwavering commitment.

With a vast and rich background in journalism and extensive experience in media and communications, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to craft compelling narratives and manage crises with finesse.

Soneye, who is a former President of the Nigerian Media Practitioners, Washington, D.C., is a member of reputable bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), National Association of Black Journalists, Society of Professional Journalists, and the Nigerian Guild of Corporate Online Media Publishers.

His appointment as NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer in 2023 marked a new chapter in his career, where he has successfully driven the company’s brand penetration and strategic communications initiatives.

The NIPR award is not Soneye’s first accolade; he previously won the Distinguished Spokesperson in Oil and Gas award in 2024, outshining his peers from Shell Companies in Nigeria and Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited.

This year’s win is a testament to his growing influence and reputation as a master communicator, proven ability to shape public opinion and his exceptional communication skills were key factors in his selection, according to Dr. Shaibu Hussein, Chairman of the Adjudication Committee of NIPR.

In his acceptance speech, Soneye attributed the award to the dedication of the entire NNPCL team, underscoring the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving excellence.

“We are all happy, and I am deeply honoured to receive this award tonight from NIPR. This award reflects the dedication of our entire team, and we thank NIPR for all they continue to do,” he said amid a tumultous applause.

As the NIPR Spokesperson of the Year 2025, Soneye will be celebrated throughout the year for his outstanding contributions to the field.

This recognition not only solidifies his position as a leading figure in public relations but also highlights the impact of effective communication in shaping public perception and driving organizational success.
