In a move to mobilize support for the Super Eagles, the Akwa Ibom State Government has announced that it will be offering complimentary tickets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Gov. Umo Eno has purchased all 30,000 tickets to ensure a packed stadium and a vibrant atmosphere for the national team.
According to the Commissioner for Sports, Paul Bassey, the free tickets can be obtained from various distribution centres, including all radio stations.
Others are De Venus Bar and Restaurant on Stadium Road, Uyo Township Stadium, Ibom Plaza, and previous ticket sales outlets.
Bassey noted that no tickets will be sold or distributed at the stadium, urging fans to secure theirs in advance.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has also pledged to distribute Super Eagles jerseys to the first 500 fans who obtain tickets for the game.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, urged supporters to attend in large numbers and wear Nigeria’s national colours to create a vibrant atmosphere.
“We are calling on Nigerians to come out in large numbers to support the Super Eagles on Tuesday. The team needs the support,” Sanusi said.
Persecondnews reports that the Super Eagles are currently in a difficult position in the qualifiers, with six points from five matches and sitting fourth in their group.
However, they secured their only win of the campaign against Rwanda on Friday, March 22 and the team will be looking to building on that momentum against Zimbabwe.
