The Nigerian U17 girls’ team, the Flamingos, have stepped up their preparation for Saturday’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifying match against South Africa’s Bantwana.
The team has been training at the Remo Stars Institute at Ikenne-Remo in Ogun State ahead of the crucial encounter.
The Bantwana delegation is expected to arrive in Lagos on Wednesday evening, after the Flamingos secured a 3-1 win in the first leg in Pretoria on Saturday.
Despite the win, the South Africans have vowed to give their hosts a tough challenge, with team captain Katleho Malebana assuring that they will contest every blade of grass at the Remo Stars Stadium on Saturday.
The match, scheduled to kick off at 4 pm, will be officiated by Senegalese match officials, led by referee Aida Sy.
The winner on aggregate will progress to the final round of the qualification series, with the top five African teams earning a spot at the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
