Spreading Kindness and Democracy: Prof. Orogbu Impacts on Constituents in Akwa, Anambra

Prof. Obiageli Lilian Orogbu, the lawmaker representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, has delivered democracy dividends to her constituents through various community projects, roads and empowerment initiatives.

The lawmaker, who is one of the only 17 female lawmakers in the Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has come out to give her account of stewardship just two years in office.

Among the numerous projects and the interventions are the construction of several blocks of classrooms, roads, human capacity building and empowerment, installation of over 400 solar-powered street lights across the 19 communities in the constituency.

At the inauguration of the projects, she said: “My representation is centred on education, human capacity building/empowerment and infrastructure development. I am deeply committed to improving our constituency by focusing on these key areas.

“Together, we can ensure that our voices are heard and our needs are met. Let’s build a brighter future for Anambra and Nigeria.”

One key area of intervention is education which Orogbu prioritized, recognizing its transformative power.

She executed several projects to improve educational infrastructure, including the construction of a block of six classrooms for Community Secondary School Achalla.

The project has provided a conducive learning environment for students, enhancing their academic performance.

In addition to the Achalla project, Orogbu has also renovated three classroom blocks for Community Secondary School Okpuno and another three classroom blocks at Ogulube Primary School Ebenebe equipping them with modern facilities.

Furthermore, she renovated six classroom blocks at Community Secondary School Mgbakwu and constructed 1km road at St. Stephen Junction – Omoh Block Industry Mgbakwu, a demonstration of her dedication to creating an enabling environment that supports the socio-economic development of her constituents.

Still on infrastructure development,
Orogbu also constructed another 1km Holy Family road at Amansea to improve movement of people and goods in the arena.

Additionally, Rep. Orogbu renovated four classroom blocks at Ikwodiaku Primary School, Awka and four classroom blocks at Community Secondary School Mbaukwu.

A spotlight also shows that she constructed 1km road at Ogechukwu Street, Awka; renovated six classroom block also at Agulu Awka Primary School, Awka; three classroom block at Community Secondary School Ezioka, also in Awka.

On empowerment and capacity building,
Orogbu said she has trained and empowered over 500 constituents in different capacities, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to improve their livelihoods.

As part of efforts to improve security, enhanced economic activities, and transform the overall quality of life for residents, the professor disclosed that she has installed over 400 solar-powered street lights across the 19 communities.

Excited residents have applauded Orogbu’s shining example of effective representation which they described as inspiring hope and confidence in the nation’s democratic process.
