The highly anticipated FCT President Cup final is set to kick off, with reigning champions EFCC FC gearing up to take on challengers Family Worship Champions FC (FWC FC) in a thrilling showdown.
EFCC FC secured their spot in the final with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Galadima FC in the semifinals, while FWC FC edged out N-Youth Academy 4-1 in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 stalemate.
FWC FC coach, Bunmi Blaire, expressed his team’s determination to lift the trophy, drawing from their past experiences.
“We lost two previous finals on penalties, we lost the NLO Super 8 on penalties, we were defeated in the national play-offs on penalties, so we have learnt our lessons,” Blaire said.
He also acknowledged the familiarity between the two teams, having faced EFCC FC in previous encounters.
“I started up from EFCC as far back as 2012/2013, I interned with them, I understand them… we both know what to expect from the game.”
Blaire also commended the officiating in the tournament, praising the professionalism of the referees.
“The officiating has been very professional in the tournament, starting from our first game… I hope they will be able to replicate same in the final.
“All through the tournament, nobody complained about the officiating, when it comes to officiating, FCT is the best in Nigeria,” he said.
The final match is set to be a thrilling encounter between two determined teams, with EFCC FC seeking to defend their title and FWC FC aiming to claim their first FCT President Cup trophy.
