The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has taken a significant step towards improving the efficiency of its ports under a strategic partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The deal was struck at a meeting between the Managing Director/CEO of NPA Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho and the Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Mr. Yuzurio Susumu, held at the NPA headquarters in Marina on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on harnessing technical and allied synergies to enhance the eco-friendliness of Nigerian ports through renewable energy and increased automation.
JICA, an implementing agency of Japanese Official Development Aid (ODA), aims to support the socioeconomic development and economic stability of developing regions.
The agency has been actively involved in various projects in Nigeria, including capacity building for Nigerian exporters and trade support organizations.
The collaboration between NPA and JICA is expected to drive Nigeria’s energy sustainability and foster economic growth.
Speaking on the occasion, Dantsoho said the NPA’s quest to deepen the eco-friendliness of Nigerian ports aligns with JICA’s goals of supporting sustainable economic growth and development in Nigeria.
