In a surprise move, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Tuesday flew into Minna, Niger State and held separate closed-door meetings with two influential figures in Nigerian politics — former Military President General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) and former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

The meetings, which took place on Tuesday, have sparked curiosity about potential discussions on national security, governance, and political affairs ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to reports, Mrs. Tinubu arrived at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, at 10:30 am in a private aircraft, where she was received by Niger State Governor, Dr. Umaru Mohammed Bago, and his wife, Hajiya Fatima Bago.

From the airport, the First Lady proceeded directly to Babangida’s residence, engaging in a 35-minute discussion with the former military leader.

Thereafter, Mrs. Tinubu met with Gen. Abubakar at the adjourning residence, although details of their discussion remain undisclosed.

Journalists were barred from covering the meetings, except for those on the Niger State Governor’s press crew.

Persecondnews reports that the visit has sparked intense speculation among political observers, who are eager to uncover the motivations behind the meeting.

The high-profile visit has naturally raised questions about the potential implications for the state’s political landscape.
