International music sensation Tems added another feather to her cap at the 2025 Grammy Awards, winning the coveted Best African Music Performance category.

This marks her second Grammy win, solidifying her status as one of Nigeria’s most influential artists on the global stage.

In a remarkable milestone for Nigerian music, artistes from the country featured in all the nominated songs within the category.

This year’s nomination list included Yemi Alade’s “Tomorrow,” Asake’s “MMS” featuring Wizkid, Chris Brown’s “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay, and Burna Boy’s “Higher.”

The category, introduced in 2024 and first won by South African star Tyla for her hit single “Water,” continues to highlight the growing impact of African music worldwide.
Tems triumphed over stiff competition to claim the award, showcasing the depth of her talent and the widespread appeal of her sound.

The “Love Me Jeje” crooner took to the stage with grace and emotion, delivering an acceptance speech that resonated deeply with her fans and fellow artistes.

“Dear God, thank you so much for putting me on this stage and bringing me this team,” Tems began, her voice filled with gratitude.

“Tomorrow is my mum’s birthday, and this is her first Grammys. I just want to thank you, Mum, because she’s really done a lot for me and my brother.”

Tems continued by acknowledging the unwavering support of her team, saying, “I want to thank my team, thank you so much. To God be the glory because honestly, He’s changed my life so much. Thank you so much, thank you God.”

Her heartfelt tribute to her mother struck a chord with many, as it highlighted the personal sacrifices and support that often underpin an artist’s journey to success.

Fans worldwide expressed admiration for her humility and the strong family values she embodies.

The 2025 Grammy Awards marked a historic moment not just for Tems but for the entire Nigerian music industry.
