The President Federation Cup competition kicked off nationwide on Monday, with preliminary matches taking place across all 36 states, signaling the start of the highly anticipated annual tournament, Persecondnews reports.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Competitions qqàqDepartment, the final matches in the states are scheduled to take place on February 22 or February 23.
Ruth David, the Director of Competitions, said the importance of adhering to the scheduled dates, warning that failure to do so without approval of the NFF would attract a fine of N1 million for the errant State FA.
“Any Club that fails to honour any match at the State level, after the draw has been released, will pay a fine of N500,000,” she said.
The national play-off of the competition is scheduled for March 5 followed by the national draw on March 12.
The subsequent rounds, including the Rounds of 64, 32, and 16, are scheduled for March 19, April 2, and April 16 respectively.
The quarter-finals and semi-finals are scheduled for May 3-4 and May 17-18 respectively.
