An Oyo State High Court sitting at Ring Road, Ibadan, on Monday granted bail to a former queen of Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, and two other co-defendants -Oriyomi Hamzat, and Abdulahi Fasasi – charged with murder.
The trio was arraigned over the tragic stampede at the Christmas funfair event of December 18, 2024 organized by them which resulted in the deaths of 35 children.
Justice K.B. Olawoyin, presiding over Court 8, granted the bail application filed by the counsel of the trio.
Persecondnews recalls that the court had earlier scheduled today, Monday, January 13, for the ruling on the bail application, after adjourning the case on January 7.
The judge imposed five conditions for the bails, requiring the defendants to pay N10 million and provide two sureties each who must own property within the court’s jurisdiction.
They are also ordered to surrender their international passports to the court and are barred from engaging in any media interviews for the duration of the case.
The trio were taken into custody following the incident on December 18, and have been held in prison custody since December 24, 2024.
