In a remarkable display of humility and candor, a former social critic, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has joined well wishers to felicitate the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), Mr. Mele Kyari, on his 60th birthday.

Lavishing praises on the organization’s GCEO, the ex-presidential spokesman acknowledged the transformative impact of Kyari’s leadership on the nation’s oil and gas sector.

Okupe seized the opportunity of the birthday to offer heartfelt congratulations, acknowledging the CEO’s dedication, leadership, and achievements.

This erstwhile skeptic, who had once shared the sentiments of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, commended NNPCL’s tangible strides in revitalizing the country’s refineries, revitalizing critical infrastructure, and tackling the petroleum industry’s long-standing challenges under Kyari’s leadership.

The significant downward trend in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at the pumps, a direct result of the NNPCL’s strategic initiatives, has been particularly commendable, he said.

This development has brought palpable relief to Nigerians, easing some of the economic burdens they have been grappling with.

In a letter obtained by Persecondnews, he wrote: “Particularly commendable is the significant downward trend in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at the pumps, which is a direct result of NNPCL’s strategic initiatives and commitment to improving the petroleum sector for the benefit of the Nigerian people.

“This development is already easing some of the economic burdens Nigerians have been grappling with, and it deserves widespread commendation.

“On this occasion of Mr. Mele Kyari’s 60th birthday, I seize the opportunity to offer my heartfelt congratulations. Your dedication, leadership, and achievements have not only earned the respect of your peers, but have also turned former critics like myself into proud supporters of the work you continue to do.

“I pray that the Almighty God blesses you with continued wisdom, strength, and success as you press forward in your mission to ensure a more prosperous future for Nigeria.

“May your efforts continue to help alleviate the hardships of Nigerians, particularly by further reducing the cost of PMS, and may you be richly rewarded for your service to the nation.”

He also expressed his fervent hope that Kyari’s efforts would continue to alleviate the hardships of Nigerians, particularly through further reductions in the price of PMS, adding that he would be richly rewarded for his selfless service to the nation.
