Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted Olamide Thomas, who allegedly threatened Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, on social media, a N10 million bail with one surety in like sum.

The judge ruled in favour of Thomas’ bail application, stating that the prosecution failed to provide concrete evidence that she would jump bail.

As a condition for the bail, the judge ordered the surety to provide an affidavit of means and a three-year tax clearance certificate.

He also stipulated that the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

Additionally, Justice Nwite directed that both the defendant and the surety must submit two recent passport photographs to the court registrar, and that the surety’s address must be verified.

The judge consequently adjourned the case until February 18 for trial.

Persecondnews recalls that Justice Nwite had adjourned the case for ruling on December 31, 2024, after counsel for Olamide Thomas, Mr. T.J. Aondo, and prosecution lawyer, Mr. Victor Okoye, presented their arguments for and against the bail application.

Thomas was arraigned on December 20, 2024, and subsequently remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre after pleading not guilty to a three-count charge brought against her by the IGP.

She was taken into custody for allegedly harassing and threatening Mr. Seyi Tinubu, Egbetokun, and Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), ACP. Muyiwa Adejobi in a social media post that went viral.

In the charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/636/2024, dated and filed on Dec 18 by the police team of lawyers led by A.A. Egwu, Olamide was sued as the sole defendant.

In the first count, Olamide was accused of knowingly and intentionally transmitting a video recording on her social media platforms in 2024, containing remarks made in Yoruba language.

In the video, she was alleged to have stated: “that Mr Seyi Tinubu would die this year, and misfortune and calamity had befallen the Tinubu family, with intent to bully, threaten, and harass the person of Mr Seyi Tinubu.”

The offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 24 (2) (a) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.

In the second count, she was accused of intentionally transmitting a video recording containing remarks in Yoruba language, aimed at bullying, threatening, and harassing Egbetokun.

The offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 24 (2) (a) of Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.

In the third count, Olamide was alleged to have intentionally transmitted a video recording containing remarks in Yoruba language, in which she made a threatening statement that the children of Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi would all die before his eyes.

The offence contravenes Section 24 (2) (a) of Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.

The communications allegedly made by Olamide were said to have instilled fear in Seyi Tinubu and Egbetokun, making them apprehensive of death, violence, or bodily harm, while Adejobi feared for the lives of his loved ones.

Persecondnews reports that when the case was came up on Monday, Olamide Thomas, who was present in court, was represented by her lawyer, Mr. Seprebofa Oyeghe.
