AEDC makes important announcement to FCT residents

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has issued a public notice announcing a planned two-week power outage in select communities within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The interruption, scheduled to commence on Monday, January 6, was announced via AEDC’s official social media channels on Friday.

According to the power distribution company, the outage will last till 21, January, 2021.

AEDC said the power interruption will results from relocation of the 33kv DC Airport Feeder and 132 KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers along the Outer Southern Expressway by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCDA.

The company listed areas that are expected to experience load shedding as a result of the exercise to include Lugbe and its environs, Airport Road, Kapwa, NNPC, Games Village, National Stadium, Eye Clinic, Indoor Complex, Christ Embassy Church, American International School, Spring Court, American Embassy Quarters, EFCC HQ, Coca Cola, Railway, FMC, some parts of Apo and Gudu, Gbazango and its environs.

It also said some parts of Kubwa, Bwari and its environs, parts of Jabi, Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba, Keffi and its environs, and some other parts of Abuja will be affected.

The DisCo apologized to residents who will be affected by the power interruption for any inconvenience it would cause.

“We are working round the clock to reduce downtime as much as possible and we regret any inconvenience.”
