The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced on Wednesday night that its website had been hacked.

In a post on X late Wednesday, the Bureau informed the public that it was working to recover the website, which publishes crucial statistics concerning key sectors in the country.

The NBS cautioned that any messages or reports posted on the website should be disregarded until it is fully restored.

As of Thursday morning, December 19, attempts to access the NBS website were unsuccessful, with the site displaying a “can’t be reached” message.

The hacking incident has raised concerns about the security of sensitive data and the potential disruption of critical statistical services.

The NBS has not provided details on the nature of the hacking incident or the measures being taken to prevent future occurrences.

The Bureau’s website is a critical resource for policymakers, researchers, and businesses, providing valuable insights into Nigeria’s economic and social trends.
