President Bola Tinubu has presented a proposed budget of N4.96 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year, dubbed the “Budget of Restoration Securing Peace and Building Prosperity,” to the joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday.

The President noted that the budget aims to consolidate the key policies of the administration and boost oil production, with a focus on restoring peace and security across the country.

Security allocation has been increased by almost N1 trillion, from N3.2 trillion in 2024 to N4.9 trillion in the proposed 2025 budget.

Tinubu stated the importance of security, noting that it is the foundation of every progress and that increased funding is necessary to provide modern tools and technology to the security forces.

He assured Nigerians that the economy is on a positive trajectory and thanked them for their sacrifices during the administration’s reform and transformation journey.

Tinubu said: “We increase security to help secure every inch of our national territory. We will continue to provide modern tools and technology to help the men and women of our security force defeat insurgency and restore peace to our nation.

“Our people shouldn’t live in fear; security is the foundation of every progress, hence the need for increased funding for military, paramilitary, and police.”

He expressed confidence in the resilience of the economy to withstand current challenges and summoned the Nigerian Spirit to lead the country towards restoration and peace.

The Nigerian leader assured Nigerians that there is no going back on the policies, but “the budget is coming at a point that the economy is on a positive trajectory.

He also thanked Nigerians for embarking on this journey of “reform and transformation.”

“Your sacrifice will not be in vain. assure you we will build on the progress of the past 18 months of this administration.

“The budget of 2025 seeks to consolidate the key policies of our administration and boost oil production. I believe in the resilience of our economy to withstand the current challenges.”
